final blog

This year in IPET has been amazing. i loved going to westwood elementary and help out the teachers. i grew so close to all the kids. they loved me, everytime i would get to the class they would all run to me and hug me. i really felt the love and the teacher really liked me she would always make sure i didnt need anything. she was pregnant and i knew that she would be gone before the year ended and as  i said it, she had her baby and a substitute came along, that lady was nice but i was so used to ms.gomez and so were the kids they would act weirdly at first but then they got used to her. i had a wonderrful year overall and this class made me realized that i would love to this on the long run.

I was absent that day so i didnt get to go over to the elementary.
i was home sick with a fever.

4/14/11 (:

my day at westwood was pretty good overall but sad at the end when i found out that the teacher wasnt coming back because she was going to have her baby. so she wont be back at school for the rest of the year which means that i  have to get used to another teacher and so do the students.
but it was a very pruductive day specially becuse i got to do something that have been talking about in class, which is assesment. i had to sit with 5 groups of 5 kids.
and i had to verbally say a sentance and they had to write it down on their paper it was a sprinf test after that i had ti give them 10 minutes and in that time they had to write all the words they knew from like colors to anythig. and i had to count the words up and write them down it was a pretty good day because i actually felt like a real teacher.

the trip(: 04/9/11

i went on a trip to dallas witht the tigerettes, we left on wednesday at 1pm and arrived over there like at 5:30ish we ate dinner and from there we went to the Rangerette annual spring show at kilgore college it was amazing they were so good!
after that we headed to the holiday express hotel and got in the pool(:
then we went up to oour room and watched a movie untill we fell asleep.
the next day we went to taylor college and we met the Apache belles they are the dance team there and we actualy took a technique class with them and they go to show us they're dorms it was awesome!!
from there we went to cici's pizza and then headed back to houston! and i took the longest nap on the bus! :)

3-24-11

yesterday at westwood i had a fun day.
when i got there the teacher wasnt there at the begining of the class cause she got stuck in traffic.
when she got there i was waiting for her in the class with the kids.
we did the calendar like usual they do it daily and then they started talking about living and non living things and the teacher took them outside, gave them a paper with a line in the middle and told them to write the living things on one side and the non living things on the other side and i was going around helping them and after a while we went back in the class and went over it with them and it was so cute cause some of the kids thought water and rocks were living and stuff. i had fun(:

my day at westwood was awesome..
the teacher always has an objective on the board and when the kids walk in they already know what to do and take out of their backpack before they put them up.
once they sit down they need to take their homework out, put it on the table and take their book oout and read untill the teacher gets to them to check their homework.
after that they go and sit on a carpet that she has infront of the board and do the calandar where they recite the months, days and more and its one day in spanish and another day in english so they can practice both.
and after that they go on. liuke what the teacher has in store for them and the lessons they will be learning are also on the board for the rest of the day.

my day at westwood was a success i worked with a few kids outside because they were having trouble reading and identifying the words them selves so i was outside the classroom showing them and trying to teach them the words they were having trouble and reading them a book and then they had to read it to me.

the new policy at spring woods high school is and effective way to decrease the growth of tardies because the kids do not want to be stuck in iss and they also want to exempt the final exams so they make it to class on time.
but on the other hand there can be a lot of causes that can make them tardie without being their fault!
and still pay for it because the principals dont cause they only pay attention about the fact that you were tardie and thats that! youll go to iss!

my day at westwood was really fun..
the kids had a hands on activity that involved play-doh and paint really messy if you try thid with your kindergarden class. but i was impressed when the teacher would tell the kids something and the kids imideatly did it. without her screaming and yelling.. with one clap the kids stopped what they were doing and they listen to her to what the next instructions.

My day at westwood was fun. i helped the teacher check the kids homework and read to them.
after that something impressing happened the ms.gomez pulled out a box and asked me if i could help her and i said yesm ofcourse she pulled out 7 itouches and asked me to download some game apps for them like adding and subtracting and stuff like that i was so impressed because all the kids in there knew what it was and they're in kindergarden! and they all knew how to use them and stuff.. technology is becoming a big part of education because the kids think its cool just by using them and they are also learning while having fun!

my thoughts about yesterday were good because everybody stayed calmed and did not panick and they guided us outside making sure there was nobody left in the building. knowing that all the senior class was there with only a few teachers they all split up and made sure that we were all outside.

when tony was talking to us about how his life was and everything that happened to him, it all lead back to steriotyping just because they saw that he was maxican they automatically thought he was dumb and just an illegal person which was not true.
now a day people use alot of steriotyping not only by the race but also by age, family background and education. all those listed abouve give other people a chance to look down on somebody else for them to feel like they're more powerful.
but steriotyping is not correct because not all the people of the same race is the same.
same as age and so on.

My day at westwood was fun because i did the calendar with them and it like this process of things we have to to and it was fun..
i also helped the teacher grade some papers and check homework other than that i was just walking around helpin the kids out while they were doing a writing assignment.
